A Fierce and Imaginative Sci-Fi Thriller The Red Thread

The ruined city of Avalon, ruled by genetic power and fear, provides a vivid and unsettling backdrop for a story that never lets up on its emotional or narrative pressure. What stood out most for me is Sloan Whelan’s inner conflict. His struggle between guilt, duty, and survival gives the novel real depth beneath its fast-moving action. The Independents are a particularly strong creation damaged, dangerous, and strangely noble. From mutant hybrids to the legendary “silver bullet,” each feels like a thread in a larger tapestry of desperation and resistance.
